About Erik G Lough
Dr. Lough is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. During fellowship at UMass, Dr. Lough received expert training in minimally invasive techniques that provide patients a faster recovery with less pain and smaller incisions. As a bariatric surgeon, Dr. Lough performs surgery for the treatment of obesity that helps to improve overall quality of life, as well as medical problems related to obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux, weight-bearing joint pain, and sleep apnea. Dr. Lough performs sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and gastric banding.
Dr. Lough received his Bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Texas at Austin. He then received his Medical Degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia. After completing general surgery residency training from West Virginia University at Charlestown Area Medical Center in Charlestown, West Virginia, Dr. Lough was fellowship trained at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Lough is a member of the Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Lough was born and raised in Houston. While attending college at UT, he grew particularly fond of living in Austin and its community. After a decade of medical training, he returned with his wife and two sons to Cedar Park where they enjoy spending time as a family.
